Cutting:
These tests were run on 3/4" material. All cuts were performed with the dot
side up. Downcut tools and compression tools were also tested but tended to
cause excessive melting in deep cuts using smaller diameter tools.
1/2" Diameter Tool using a climb cut at 150 IPM 18,000 RPM
Cutting Edge Diameter: 1/2
Cutting Edge Length.: 1-1/8
Shank Diameter: 1/2
Over All Length: 3-1/2
Tool Material: Solid Carbide
Helix: Up
Flutes: 3
Rotation: RH

Engraving:
The sample used was for 1/4" cutting channels wide and 1/16" deep into the
material.
The best results we achieved were using a router bit with these dimensions:
Cutting Edge Diameter: 3/16
Cutting Edge Length: 5/8
Shank Diameter: 1/4
Over All Length: 2
Tool Material: Solid Carbide
Helix: Down
Flutes: 1
Rotation: RH
Feed at 120 ipm was very good with the 3/16" diameter tool working a 1/4"
wide channel in a climb cut direction.

To create a crisp edge with a saw, use 1800 RPMs at 150" per minute and a
good carbide blade that has 50-75 teeth.

Cleaning
King StarBoard?is very chemically resistant and most common detergents and
cleaners work well. You can use a nylon scrubby?or stiff bristle nylon brush
but care should be taken because excessive force can mar the finish.
Bleach can be applied and allowed to soak to help lift persistent stains.
Pressure washing is also an acceptable method of cleaning. To clean a petroleum
problem such as grease or oil, use citrus cleaner, alcohol, or mineral spirits.
Care must be taken to avoid contact with pencil lead or prolonged contact with
teak oil and other oil based products as these do not clean well and may cause
staining.
Furniture polish or products such as Armor-All?can add an attractive luster
to the finish and hide small mars on the product's surface.
*Do not use polishing products on stepping surfaces to prevent the danger of
slipping.
